Comedy Coven's August Retrospective (With Pics!)

The Coven moved one step closer to world domination with our performances this August, traveling across the state of Michigan and selling out our second consecutive show in our home theatre. We also got to show our ~trUuUuUuUe coOoloOors~ loud and proud at Michigan Pride, which was held in our home base of REO Town this year.

We were honored to be part of the very first Bastards Club comedy show in Southgate, where we got to take selfies with mannequin boobs, partake in a rune reading, and play dress-up backstageThanks to the boys of the Bastards Club for making us feel so welcome.

Then it was back to Lansing to sell out The Robin Theatre for the second month in a row. Our eighteenth installment of the Comedy Coven saga, BEAST INFECTION, featured live art by Kimberly Lavon of Kimberly Lavon INK, who really knew how to capture our essences.

Then we got even gayer than usual by performing in the Michigan Pride comedy show, hosted by our very own Tricia. Here's an adorable pic of Tricia and her little prince, Emily, courtesy of the Lansing State Journal:

Finally, we closed out the month in Grand Rapids at Rainbow Variety Nights, an awesome weekly event organized by our friends from Funny Girls. We treated the B.O.B. to standup, musical comedy, and a sneak peek of our new friends, Doff Bentley and Barcus Slocrumb. You just might see more of them in September at Comedy Coven XIX: CONTROVER-SHE. Here they are being interviewed by a long-suffering Syrja:

Thanks to our friends in Funny Girls for doing important work for Michigan women in comedy. A special shout goes out to Eirann Betka for taking such good care of us and running a great show.

We can't wait to show you what we've got coming up in September, but for now we'll leave you with this Mad Lib Hex-inspired image made for us by Amber Simmons:
